Royal Cars Hire Zanzibar Guidelines
1) Insurance and What It Covers
- All accidents that involve destruction of the car such as road accidents and fire accidents.
- The incurred cost in the accident must range from 500,000 TZS or above (≈ $218 depending on exchange rate).
- Normally insurance is paid one month after the accident.
- The company will help the injured person in accident to access the required service.
2) Breakdown Services
- Includes damaging of any car part.
- If the car breaks down by itself, the company covers maintenance costs. If the customer pays first, the company reimburses valid expenses.
- Any carelessness that leads to breakdown: the customer pays all expenses.
- If damage is caused by an accident that does not involve carelessness, the company cooperates with the customer to support maintenance costs.
It is advised that if any accident or breakdown occurs, the customer should contact the company as soon as possible.
3) Police Matters
When a customer faces any difficulty or misunderstanding with the police, report to the company immediately. No bribes or any amount of money shall be given. The company shall take care of matters accordingly once complaints are received.
4) Road Safety Rules
- Avoid driving while drunk.
- Wear a seatbelt while driving.
- Avoid unwanted speed.
Terms & Conditions
1. The vehicle must be returned in good condition. If the hirer is unable to return the car on time, a fine of US $10/hour will be charged unless otherwise discussed no later than 24 hours before handover.
2. The hirer will compensate accordingly for any damage caused by carelessness.
3. The hirer is responsible for the security of the vehicle and will not expose it to any risks of damage.
4. All money must be paid at the beginning of the hire.
5. The hirer must have a Zanzibar driver’s permit which costs USD $10 per driver.
6. Any property left inside the car is under the hirer’s own risk.
7. Royal Cars provides pickup around Zanzibar town free of charge, but the hirer pays $20 if pickup point is out of Zanzibar town.
8. Royal Cars reserves the right to terminate the agreement and collect the car at any time should we feel the car is at risk or not looked after.
